Jamaicans Elaine Thompson-Herah ( won gold 10.61 ), Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce (won silver 10.74 seconds ), Shericka Jackson (won bronze 10.76) in the women’s 100m final.
Thompson-Herah 10.61 seconds win beat the old record of 10.62 set by the late American Florence Griffith Joyner in Seoul. Her time of 10.61 is the second fastest time ever run by a woman, only bettered by Griffith-Joyner's time of 10.49 in 1988.
The Jamaican women first did a sweep of the medals at the 2008 Beijing Games –their victory was somewhat overshadowed that week by the record-setting performance by Usain Bolt.
